The holy month of Ramadan 2026 has officially begun in India following the sighting of the crescent moon on 18 February 2026. The announcement was issued by the Markazi Royat‑e‑Hilal Committee at Jama Masjid, one of the country’s most prominent religious institutions. According to the official statement, the Ramadan moon was observed on the evening of 18 February, and therefore the first fast (Roza) will be observed on 19 February 2026 .
